This email contains your FirstAlert! account number and password, important information about FirstAlert!, and how to use it with MailWasher. We recommend you save a copy of this email in a safe place. For further enquiries, please email support at support@firetrust.com >> Your FirstAlert! account number and password Your FirstAlert! customer ID: 59100320 Your FirstAlert! password: kms88a2c > Setting up FirstAlert! To set up your FirstAlert! account in MailWasher Pro: 1: From the MailWasher Pro main screen, click Spam Tools to display the Spam Tools window. 2: Click FirstAlert! and select the "Use the FirstAlert! database of spam" checkbox. 3: Enter your FirstAlert! account number and password and click OK. On this screen, also set the Actions you want MailWasher Pro to take with messages matched by FirstAlert! and when you want these actions to be performed. If you are unsure we recommend you leave the settings as they are, and when you are more comfortable with the FirstAlert! system, alter these to your own preferences. > Using FirstAlert! After you have set up FirstAlert! you will notice a new Report column displayed in the message table. Select the Report check box beside a message and click Process Mail to send that message to our team of FirstAlert! administrators. Our administrators verify whether the message is spam, and accept or reject the message. MailWasher Pro does not check against FirstAlert! any messages that are marked as legitimate either by your Friends List or Filters. Nor can legitimate messages be reported to the FirstAlert! database. As MailWasher Pro checks your email account(s) it automatically checks each message against the FirstAlert! database of Known Spam. By default any messages matched are displayed with the status Known Spam and are marked for deletion and blacklisting. Optionally you can choose to have MailWasher Pro automatically delete these messages. To set options for MailWasher Pro click the Spam Tools button from the MailWasher Pro main screen, and then click FirstAlert!. ---------------------------- Common Questions ---------------------------- > What is spam? The word spam as applied to email means Unsolicited Bulk Email (UBE). Unsolicited means that the recipient has not granted verifiable permission for the message to be sent. Bulk means that the message is sent as part of a larger collection of messages, all having substantively identical content. To be spam, a message must be Unsolicited and Bulk. Unsolicited email is normal email where the recipient has had no previous voluntary communication with the sender (first contact emails, job enquiries etc.) Bulk email is normal email (newsletters, discussion lists, etc.) Only the combination of Unsolicited and Bulk is spam. > What sort of spam/junk email should I not report? If you have previously had voluntary communication with the sender, then this is not spam by our definition and you should have no problems unsubscribing through their provided methods. Other types of messages that should not be submitted are automatically generated messages such as: - Automated Notifications - Undeliverable Email Notifications (e.g. bounces) - Mailing List Probes - Virus Alerts - Challenge Response Auto Replies > But I thought those sorts of messages were spam? It is known that spammers have forged these types of messages, however the purpose of these messages are actually very legitimate. Automated notifications can tell you when a business contact is out of the office, undeliverable email notifications tell you when an email you have sent has not made it to the recipient and why. > I accidentally reported a legitimate message. What should I do? Send an email to FirstAlert! support as soon as you realise you have incorrectly submitted the message. Give us the subject of the message you reported and we will remove the message from our database. FirstAlert! looks only at the subject and body of the email, not the sender's address, so if you have deleted the email please check the Mail Log (via MailWasher Pro >> Tools >> Statistics) for the subject of the message. We recommend you make use of your Friends List in MailWasher Pro as this prevents accidental reporting. > Can I share my FirstAlert! account? No. Sharing your FirstAlert! account number and password violates the terms and conditions of FirstAlert!. > What do I do if I have lost my FirstAlert! account number and password? Send an email to FirstAlert! support and we will email your account details. > For further information Feel free to browse our Frequently Asked Questions, or visit the user supported Forums for information and help with FirstAlert! and other Firetrust Products.
